religious in the fundamentals of salesian spirit and education.
- To form salesian community, at the level of those who attend the seminar,
those who work together in the various schools, and in terms of the on-going
enrichment of lay and religious in the province-wide community.
AIMS OF SALESIAN LEADERSHIP SEMINAR
The two year SLIM Program is an exciting initiative of the San Francisco
province of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The program aims at deepening and qualifying
in educational praxis women and men, both lay and religious, involved in Salesian
ministry. SLIM has as a pre-requisite the completion of the Salesian educational
seminars already sponsored by the province -- SES for those involved in school
ministry and SMS for those involved in parish and youth center ministry.
The two year Program seeks to deepen our understanding of and our response to the
Salesian vocation, to serve the young people entrusted to our care. It calls
participants to reflect on the charism and identity of the Salesian spirit which
pervades all we do with and for the young. The Program further challenges participants
to be leaders in the Salesian educational project by reflecting on Salesian educational
principles and accompaniment of young people enabling them to take their place in
society as honest citizens and good Christians in the complex world of this 21st century.
Continuing education credits are available for those choosing to follow the Program
in such a manner. Some written work will be required in this instance. All participants
will be awarded a Diploma in Salesian Leadership for Ministry on completion of the
two year program. All participants will work between Seminars with their site groups
to further on-going reflection and implementation.
